Flannery’s To Auction Off Rare Bell Collection That Started In The 1940’s
Pine Bush, NY: Flannery’s sale on July 1st will include approximately 300 antique bells from all over the world. The collection was started in the 1940’s and reaching its prime in the 1970’s. Since then the collection has been quietly sitting without a sound. In 1993 Mr. Richard Kramer shipped his parent’s bell collection from Chicago to New York. Mr. & Mrs. Paul Kramer started collecting bells in the 1940’s and were well known among collectors of their day. The auction house has been sorting through provenance material and several newspaper articles regarding the collection and history of the bells. Highlights of the sale to include c.1702 Saint-Cloud porcelain dowry bell, several American Harness bells, 17th c. French castle bell, c.1890 Harrington’s Patent musical chimes, bronze figural bells, sleigh bells and c. 1900 Chinese bronze dragon gong just to name a few. The collection was extremely thought out and selected, Mr. Kramer was quoted in 1974 as saying “There’s a story behind every bell. That is very important to us,” Kramer said. “We don’t do much with newer bells and we are not interested in quantity. We have bells from around the world and we know a tale about each one”. It is strongly recommended to preview and inspect this collection as many have lost their documentation and many will be sold in groupings. In addition to the bells the sale on July 1st will further include Firearms, WW2 dagger & sword collection, silver, fine art and numerous decorative objects of interest. Flannery’s Auction House is located in Pine Bush, NY and has been specializing in estate collection liquidations since 2002. www.flannerysestateservices.com
